Front page for 6240 Exceptional Waterlogged Heritage. Stage 1: Inventory

By Jen Heathcote, Gill Campbell

This report summarises the initial work within the National Heritage Protection Plan, undertaken as part of stage 1 of project 6240 Exceptional Waterlogged Heritage. The ultimate goal of the project is to identify places with exceptional waterlogged heritage in England; define their significance; improve understanding of their location and value; and define actions in order to promote their future protection or mitigate their loss.

Stage 1 concentrated on identifying an Inventory list of such assets, building on earlier work commissioned by English Heritage. Stage 2 will produce standardised Statements of Significance for each of the places. Later stages will address dissemination of the data, management options, and risk assessments of the assets, including their resilience to climate change.
