Description
A collection of circa 200 b/w photographs of various sizes and dates, primarily relating to the Daily Express Building at 120 Fleet Street. The building was designed by Ellis and Clark in 1932 and was constructed in an art deco style. It is now Grade II* listed. The collection includes views of the offices during construction including a number of overhead views of the site in the early stages of the building project. There are also numerous views of people at work in the building, both print-workers and journalists. Other views show coverage of Second World War bomb damage around London; posed ARP wardens ‘at work’; Daily Express events and publicity shots; cityscapes etc.
