Description

The collection comprises an album relating to the sculpture of Captain Adrian Jones. The album is attributed to Jones and includes 26 photographs of work on the Quadriga, Wellington Arch, London Borough of Westminster. There are 34 other photographs and half tones relating to Jones other paintings and sculptures as well as loose press cuttings and correspondence.

Jones started work on the Quadriga in 1908, the modelling was complete by 1910 when the bronze casting began. Casting was complete by summer 1911 and the Quadriga actually erected Hyde Park Corner 1912.

The album covers most of Jones artistic life after he retired from the army in 1889, the last dated piece being 1923. The book appears to be Jones record of his commissions.

A handlist is available.
